With the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 8% year-to-date, investor attitudes are gloomy at best.  Yet the US stock market is at the same point it was in September of 2014 – we are close to “unchanged” on a year-over-year basis.  At that time, market participants had a much more positive outlook for financial markets.  Even though today’s market “price” is the same as a year ago, the market “mood” is much more negative.  This article makes the case that because sentiment is so low, the markets next move will be to the upside.
